Wax "Slow Buy" & Perfume No Buy!!

Hello everyone.  I've been burning candles like a boss lately.  I really trying to get rid of some of my candle stash & enjoy them so I put myself on a candle "slow buy".  I didn't put myself on a wax ban because I didn't want to set myself up to fail.  My candle collection is getting out of control & I'm becoming extremely overwhelmed by it all.  As many of you know, I also put myself on a Perfume no buy about 2 months ago & I have been doing great.  I have almost 200 perfumes & almost 200 candles.  This doesn't include minis or wax tarts.  I wanted to really take the time to enjoy my stash & appreciate what I have.  I'm running out of room for storage and it's time.

Since I've been on my slow buy, I must say I'm even feeling better.  I don't have the "rush" of the next sale or glitch.  I'm not experiencing the anxiety of "getting the newest candle or perfume".  I'm not feeling the urge to hoard 50 of the same scents in case it doesn't come back, gets discontinued or runs out.  I'm simply enjoying what I have while I have it.  I've managed to empty over 40 bottles of perfume which includes giving some away that I no longer wanted.  I previously posted about that.  I also have been burning thru my favorite candles & not "saving" them.  And I have to say I'm so proud of myself.

Why does it seem like there are a billion candle sales & deals when you're on a ban/slow buy?  Yankee was having glitch after glitch sales, Bath & Body Works were having sales where the candles ended up being a little over $8 a piece!  Coupons were coming from everywhere!  I thought I would break but I didn't.  I didn't go to Home Goods or Marshalls or TJ Maxx.  I didn't put myself in situations where I thought I would have a lapse.  I didn't log onto the web sites to see what was in stock & I limit my time in my candle group.  Life has truly slowed down & I'm extremely happy about it!

Bath & Body Works Sparkling Pear Riesling Review

Hello everyone.  I've been super busy which is why I haven't posted in a few days.  Today I'm reviewing Sparkling Pear Riesling from Bath and Body Works.  It's from the Cork & Vine Collection 2015.  Before I even get into the review, let me just say I freaking love this candle.  It has quickly shot to one of my top 5 favorite candles of all time.  I purchased the 3 wick 14.5 oz candle.
Scent Description:  A bright pairing of crisp Riesling grape & juicy California pears.
What it smells like to me:  This candle smells exactly like a boozy grape.  Have you ever had Muscadine grapes?  You know, those grapes with the thick skin that you have to eat the inside & toss the skin because the skin it too thick?  Well, it smells exactly like muscadine grapes taste when they are ripe.  This candle is so authentic to my nose & I absolutely love it!!
Scent Appeal:  On a scale of 1 to 10, I give his candle a 10!!!  It's just that good to me!  Perfect score!  It's so juicy & delicious & I haven't smelled anything else like it. EVER!!  It's definitely hoard worthy.  I've purchased 18 so far & plan to purchase more.  I don't ever want to be without this candle & we all know that Bath and Body Works is known for not bringing candles back.

Performance:  This candle performed beautifully.  Flawless!  It pooled from edge to edge on each burn had the perfect sized flames.  Mine burned for about 30 hours which was sad because I didn't want it to end.  From the picture above, you can see that it burned ALL the way down & had clean burn.  There was no soot.  I definitely hated to see this one finish.

Throw:  This candle threw for days!  I had to leave the house & put the candle out.  I was gone for about 3 hours & when I returned home, I could still smell this candle thru my front door!  I would grade it a 9.  The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because it wasn't overwhelming.  I have an open concept home & this candle traveled upstairs & under the door cracks.  Just amazing!

Grade:  A+++++  This candle gets a perfect score!  I can't find anything negative to say about it.  It's just phenomenal!!

Would I purchase again:  A big fat HELL YES!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Pointelle Candy Apple Candle Review

A few weeks back I was browsing the candle section at Burlington Coat Factory & I stumbled upon a candle brand that I had never seen before by Pointelle Home Fragrance.  The scent was called Candle Apple.  I was drawn in by the packaging (as you know, I'm a sucka for beautiful packaging).  The packaging was in a deep candy apple red jar with raised x's and a gold lid.  It's absolutely beautiful.  I purchased 2 of the 22 oz sized jars for $6.99 each.  The wax is 100% soy with no dye added.
Scent Description:  None found
What it smells like to me:  First let me say that this fragrance does NOT smell like candy apples.  It's really hard to explain but I will try.  It smells more like an aromatherapy candle.  It smells like cherries with ginger but not sweet & overwhelming.  It reminds me a lot of "orange ginger" but with cherries instead of oranges if that makes sense.  It's a very exotic smell.  With almost a middle eastern twang to it.  I must say that I was extremely surprised by it.  The scent smells the exact same cold as it does burning which is a plus in my book.  My only concern with it is that it can become overwhelming because of the "ginger" vibe to it & I can't keep it lit more than an hour or so.

Scent Appeal:  I'd give this a 5.  It's not going to appeal to everyone & you won't be able to burn it every day in my opinion.  Although it smells nice, it can become sickening very quickly.

Performance:  It pools out from edge to edge within an hour.  It doesn't soot at all because of the soy & it has a very clean burn.  The flames were beautiful & looked amazing while burning in the red jar. It's said to have 250 hours worth of burn time.

Throw:  This candle was a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.  Its extremely strong.  So much so that it makes my eyes burn if I keep it lit for more than an hour.  It also can scent my entire bedroom without being lit just by taking the top off.  This candle will throw you out your entire house.

Grade:  A- : I took off points due to it being almost TOO strong & that it can become sickening if lit longer than an hour.  This candle is very well made & appears to be very high end even though it was only a few dollars.

Will I purchase again:  Yes.  I would definitely purchase again; however, it won't be for awhile due to this will last me forever.

If you have this candle, I would love to hear your thoughts & opinions on it.  Thank you so much for reading.

Yankee Candle Sand & Surf Review

Hello everyone!  I hope you're having a great week.  A few weeks ago, I went to Ross Department Store & picked up a 22 oz Jar of Yankee Candle's Sand & Surf.  I immediately knew I wanted to put this scent in one of my small bathrooms because it smelled pretty light on cold sniff.  However, I thought it would be fine for a small bath.   Apparently this scent is discontinued because I couldn't find any information about it online.
Scent Description:  No information found online
What it smells like to me:  I actually really like the scent.  "Beachy" is the best way for me to describe it.  Even though sand doesn't really have a smell, it smells like walking on the sand with the waves crashing & the wind blowing.  It's pretty authentic in my opinion.

Scent Appeal:  It's nice.  Nothing that will blow your socks off but nice & pleasant.

Performance:  This was the worst candle I've ever burned by Yankee.  It lived in foil because it wouldn't pool out on it's own and would start tunneling like crazy.  The flames were super high no matter how short I trimmed the wick.  Sometimes flames were actually shooting 3 & 4 inches up out of the jar!  This terrified me which is why I'm not going to burn it any longer. I literally was trimming the wick every 30 minutes!  Which annoyed the mess out of me!  And last but not least, it sooted like nobodies business!  I don't know if this was just a dud but I am not willing to take any more chances on this candle.  It's going in the trash.  This candle earned a big fat F for performance.

Throw:  On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate the throw on this a 2.  I had it in a small bathroom & could barely smell it.

Overall Grade:  D-  I would have given this an F but the scent appeal was nice.

Would I purchase Again?:  Absolutely not!  This candle was a nightmare & I'm surprised it was put put out by Yankee Candle.

Have you ever burned this candle?  What was your experience?  I'd love to hear from you.

Perfume Destash!!! My house is running over....

I've been a perfume lover ever since I was a little girl.  Needless to say, my perfume collection has gotten way out of control. At last count, I've managed to collect over 180 perfumes and still want more.  The problem is, I can't rotate thru them fast enough.  With my ever growing candle collection, nail polish collection & perfume collection, my house is running over with things.  I've placed myself on a No Buy for perfume & a Slow Buy for candles.  But first, I need to get rid of some of the perfumes that I don't reach for as often.  I gave my niece around 15 bottles, my aunt took 7 bottles, sister took about 10 bottles & now I found a few that I gave to one of my girlfriends from Instagram.  They are all quite pricey but I think it was the packaging that did me in.  Pictured above are the ones I'm sending her.  Marc Jacobs Lola (full bottle), Giorgio Armani Si (full bottle), Burberry My Burberry (full bottle), Calvin Klein Eternity Summer (half bottle), See by Chloe Eau Fraiche (3/4 bottle) & Vera Wang Princess (3/4 bottle).  All still fresh.  She'll enjoy them a lot more than I do.  I'm still going thru my scents.  I'm proud of myself!!!!  I can finally see the light lol.
